Charity Cup Final
Victoria United 2 - 1 The Aberdeen
Kick Off:
Attendance: 0
Venue: Cattofield, Aberdeen
The football season closed on the 15th inst, but by permission of the Scottish Association the final match in the Aberdeenshire Charity Cup ties, between the Aberdeen and the Victoria United, took place at Cattofield on Saturday. The attendance was comparatively small, due no doubt to the counter attractions of other pastimes, such as cricket and cycling. Both teams were fairly well represented. On the whole the game was of a very mediocre character. The Aberdeen threw away several fine opportunities of scoring in the opening stages, and the first period ended with no scoring. The United put more enthusiasm into their play in the second half, and were at one time leading by two goals to nil. Before the match closed, however, the Aberdeen scored once, and the game, therefore, ended in favour of the United by two goals to one. The drawings amounted to 39 18s 4 1/2d, and the total for the charity matches this season will amount to about 80. After deducting expenses the Charity Committee hope to be able to divide amongst the several charitable institutions a sum of between 60 and 70. Last year about 110 was distributed.

The destination of the Charity Cup was decided at Catto-field on Saturday, when the Vies just managed to beat Aberdeen by 2-1. Play was very poor throughout, and the players seemed badly in need of a rest. The gate amounted to about 40.
