Dewar Shield Semi Final
22/03/1902

Dundee Wanderers 0 - 1 The Aberdeen
Kick Off:          J. Mackie
Attendance: 4,000
Venue: Dens Park, Dundee
Wanderers and Aberdeen, the holders of the county cups for Forfar and Aberdeen respectively, met on Dens Park, Dundee. The Aberdeen team was late in making its appearance in consequence of a railway breakdown, and the crowd of about 4000 beginning to weary, a scene almost ensued. They commenced to clamour for their money to be returned, and were only prevented from entering the pavilion by the efforts of the police. About ten minutes past four the Aberdeen team turned up, just as matters were beginning to take a serious turn, and thus averted what might have ended in a disturbance. The teams were:- Wanderers: Don; Petrie, Taylor; Neave, Mather, McNally; Moir, Black, McInroy, Graham, Burns. Aberdeen: Bisset; 0'Brien, Dakers; Sangster, Thomson, Robertson; Brash, C. Mackie, H. Livingstone, Davidson, J. Mackie. Referee, Mr J. Baillie.

Aberdeen kicked off against the wind and sun, and, after some exciting work, the play near the close of the fist half was nearly equal. Petrie had the misfortune to injure his nose in tackling an Aberdeen player, but he refused to leave the field. Robertson almost opened the scoring with a long shot, while a minute later Don brilliantly stopped a hard drive from Livingstone. A heavy shower of rain fell, and it helped considerably to fill up the stand. Half time came with no scoring.

The Wanderers restarted in spirited fashion, and just at the finish came away in a spirited fashion, but the game ended - Aberdeen 1, Wanderers 0.
