ABERDEEN FC TRIAL |
 |
Three New Men Give Promising Displays
The Aberdeen Football Club trial last night attracted a crowd of 18,000. Played in sweltering heat the game was keenly contested, and resulted in a victory for the Black and Golds by four goals to one.
The feature of the match was the promising displays of the three new men, Gall, Nicol and Gavin.
The Black and Golds scored twice in the first half through Adam and Johnston.
Early in the second half Armstrong counted for the blues, but the Black and Golds increased their lead through Nicol and Adam.

PITTODRIE PROBLEM
The Pittodrie Dons were also on view last night. Th etrial, which attracted 16,000 spectators, revealed one thing - Aberdeen require a centre-forward to take Moor's place. I have it on authority that Moore will not be fit for some time, and it is evident that neither Armstrong nor Adam, who led their respective teams last night, are quite up to the standard. And it seems, too, that Aberdeen are confronted with another difficulty - that of centre-half. Thomson, who came from St Roch's a year ago, gave a very fine display last night, and his sound backing helped the reserve forwards to score 4 goals against 1 by the attack, which, it is expected, will open against Ayr United. Falloon will have difficulty in regaining his place. Bert Johnstone, the ex-Dundee Violet player, was at outside right in the reserve attack, and on his display deserves ti be retained on the extreme right in the league eleven. He scored a fine goal.
