Young Dons start with a great win
Barry Robson's side came flying out of the blocks and created a couple of early chances, the best of which saw a cross from Adam Emslie on the left met by Liam Harvey who slid in but his shot went just past the post.

On 15 minutes the young Dons took a deserved lead from a corner. Dylan Lobban played in a low ball to the near post which was met by Finlay Murray and his brilliant diving header beat keeper Joe Morrison.

The visitors responded and Ben Doak put a free kick just wide.

On 22 minutes Aberdeen scored again after a superb passing move. Moving the ball quickly it was played out to the left and Taylor Mason's cross was met perfectly by Liam Harvey.

The 2-0 scoreline was no more than the home side deserved at that stage for their dominance.

On the half hour mark a Celtic corner saw the ball knocked down and skipper Michael Robertson just could not quite get enough on it and Blessing was able to gather. Four minutes later they were back in the game after an outstanding piece of individual skill. With the Dons down to ten men after Ryan Duncan had to go off for treatment, Doak picked the ball up just inside the Aberdeen half before running down the right wing, then showing a tremendous burst of pace he cut into the area, beat a couple of defenders before firing home. A really fine goal.

HALF TIME Aberdeen 2 Celtic 1

As the rain came at the start of the second half, the pitch got quicker, as did the pace of the game. Aberdeen continued to enjoy more of the possession and Mason once again almost created an opening with a dangerous low cross from the left.

On 53 minutes Doak again went close when he shaved the top of the bar after another strong run in on goal. A few minutes later a mistake at the back allowed the same player another chance, again just failing to hit the target. A let off for Aberdeen.

An hour in, a low ball by Ryan Duncan on the right who had a very fine game, caused problems. As did another Mason cross from the other side which the keeper deflected to safety before Duncan curled a shot over the bar. Aberdeen were again having a good spell which led to a couple of corners and a few kicks, although Celtic were still a danger on the break due to the pace they had in their side.

On 65 minutes the Glasgow side were level. Substitute Aidan Cannon had just come on, and with what must have been his first touch, he picked the ball up from a corner on the edge of the area and fired a low shot through a ruck of players into the corner of the net.

2-2 and all to play for.

At this stage Barry Robson replaced right back Timi Fatona with Ethan Duncalf.

With fifteen minutes to go Ryan Duncan played in Alfie Bavidge who got to the by-line and his cut back was just cut out. Alfie is the son of former Peterhead striker Martin Bavidge and despite being the youngest player on the park this afternoon, the striker had a very impressive game.

A Doak free kick had to be tipped over by Oluyemi before Aberdeen regained the lead with ten minutes to go. Another fine move down the Celtic left, substitute Duncalf put over a superb cross which was headed home by Harvey. Another goal of real quality.

Celtic pushed hard for an equaliser but Aberdeen defended well, Murray and Finn Yeats standing firm. They also used the ball went, instead of just thumping it long which led to a couple of promising breaks. With two minutes left Alexander Walker took down Harvey and received a second yellow card. Dede was then booked for stopping another quick break. Shortly after that the full-time whistle sounded.

The result finished off a great week for the Aberdeen Youth Academy, with a couple of wins over Rangers at some of the younger age group levels.
