Aberdeen 2 - 4 3rd Gordon Highlanders
Kick Off:  2:30 PM   Walker, Robb.       Cail, McKay, Paton, Risk.
Attendance: 0
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
The game between Aberdeen and team representing the 3rd Battalion Gordon Highlanders attracted a fair attendance to Pittodrie yesterday afternoon, a large number of those present being in khaki. Colonel Leith of Glenkindie, the garrison commander, and several other officers witnessed the play.

The Gordons kicked off two wards the city, and at once invaded, Greig having to clear. After some pressure by the Highlanders, Aberdeen forwards got away, and Hunter had to throw out. Aberdeen were having more of the play, and forced three corners, from none of which did they get any advantage. The Highlanders' front line again got on the move, but found the Aberdeen defenders a stiff proposition. A tussle in front of the Aberdeen goal caused some excitement. Greig ran out and saved, but the Gordons' right wing got possession, and Mackay crossed. Risk tried to scrape the ball into the net, but scented outside, just past the post. Risk and a good cross, and a corner resulted. The Gordons continued on the attack for some time, and Greig cleared at critical moment. The Aberdeen goalkeeper was again called upon a few minutes later, after some good work by the Highlanders' left wing. Throwing off the pressure, Aberdeen assumed the attack, and the Gordons' defence got a good deal of work to do. Play was again transferred, Risk had a capital run, and Colman gave away a corner, which brought the Highlanders no advantage. A good piece of play on the Gordons' right ended in the ball being sent into goal, and Greig saved. The Highlanders were not to be denied, and once more getting into range, Cail scored with a swift shot. Just before half-time Mackay scored a second goal for the Gordons'.

On the resumption Aberdeen raided, but Hunter saved. Walker had a good shot, and again Hunter cleared, though with some difficulty. After some play at the other end Cumming and Walker worked their way well into the Gordons' territory, and the latter scored with a beautiful shot. From the kick-off the Highlanders assumed the offensive. Greig stopped a swift shot, but was unable to get the ball away, and Paton, dashing up, gave the Gordons their third point, shooting into an open goal. Aberdeen work hard for a goal, which they ultimately secured, Robb scoring from about 18 yards. A fourth point for the Gordons' was obtained by Lieutenant Risk with a fine oblique shot. Till the finish the Highlanders were mostly on the attack, and deserved their victory.
