Penalty Win for Aberdeen
Four thousand spectators at Pittodrie saw Aberdeen defeat the 3rd Canadian Command Depot team by a penalty goal scored by John Wyllie. The colonial soldiers played very pluckily throughout, and the game, especially in the first half, was always interesting. Neither side controlled the ball very well, but this remark applies more especially to the visitors, who often showed up well in the outfield, but repeatedly over-ran themselves at close quarters. Nevertheless, Harvey and Paterson the respective goalkeepers, had quite a lot of difficult shots to deal with. The outstanding players were: For Aberdeen: Wyllie, Wright, Connon, and Walker; and for the Canadians: Paterson, Rose, Dick, Mitchell and Parkinson.
