Benefit Match
Aberdeen 2 - 2 Huddersfield Town
    Jimmy Smith Benefit Match
Kick Off:  6:00 PM   Cheyne, Yorston.       Lewis, Smailes.
Attendance: 6,000
Venue: Pittodrie Stadium, Aberdeen
The Huddersfield team included four internationalists - Goodall, Kelly, Cumming and Jackson. The last mentioned, and old Aberdeen player, got a cheer all to himself when the teams took the field. Aberdeen combined well from the start, and it was no surprise when Cheyne gave them the lead. The English forwards playing a swinging game, were dangerous in front of goal, and Lewis equalised with a high shot. Yorston, who was proving troublesome to the visitors' defence, put Aberdeen ahead, but before the interval a fine movement by the visitors left wing resulted in Smailes again levelling matters. There was no scoring in the second half. Aberdeen showed up well in attack, but were up against a sturdy defence in Goodall and Mountford.

Estimated attendance: 6,000.

In James Smith's benefit match at Pittodrie last night, Aberdeen and Huddersfield Town divided four goals. There was an attendance of about 5000, who were entertained with an exhilarating game which provided a class exhibition of the finer points of the game, without lapsing from the competitive element.
Aberdeen scored first through Cheyne and Lewis equalised. Both goals the result of brilliant, play. Aberdeen had much the better of the subsequent exchanges and it was largely because of his personal brilliance that Yorston gave them the lead.
Huddersfield played clever football, and before the interval, Smailes got the equaliser with a ground shot.
There was no scoring in the second half, when both teams served up really brilliant football, but never a goal accrued. Great attacking play was countered by equally brilliant defensive work, and so well were they covered that neither goalkeeper was really seriously tested.
