ABERDEEN AT MOSSET PARK, FORRES. Mechanics Fall to Dons after Even First Half.
Continuing their northern tour, Aberdeen last night beat Forres Mechanics by six goals two at Mosset Park, Forres. From the outset combined movements were the feature of the visitors' play, and they kept the home defence very busy in the early stages.
A runaway by McDonald, and perfect centre, saw Shaw head high over. The Forres forwards were lively for a time, and Smith had two hot shots to deal with.
Aberdeen took up the running, and Grant brought off many smart saves. With an open goal Dickie, the Aberdeen centre, shot weakly past. After a period of pressure by Forres, Aberdeen got away a combined run, and Warnock opened the scoring. For a time the visitors hovered around the home goal, but Grant and his backs defended strongly. Dickie and McDonald on the Forres right formed a strong wing, and repeatedly caused the visiting defence a lot of trouble. A long pass up the centre found Shaw in possession to head home the equaliser.
Level scoring at the interval was a fair insult, the homesters putting up a surprisingly good show against their more experienced opponents. The game was not long in progress again when McDermid scored twice and McLean once for Aberdeen. Other goals for the visitors were got by Warnock and Dickie, while Williamson scored for the home side. Class told its tale in the second half, when the combination and better positional play of the Aberdeen team gave them a big pull.
Forrest at back, along with Grant in goal, was prominent in the homesters' defence.
