ABERDEEN experienced little difficulty beating Hearts at Pittodrie, winning by four clear goals, Pattillo registering three and Bain one. For a long period in the first half the Dons appeared listless, and it was not until after Pattillo opened his account that the game became interesting.
Hearts lacked experience, their chief weakness being in defence. The forwards, too, could have done better had they been properly supported.
The Dons' defence was never stretched. Johnstone had little to do. Cooper and Dyer kept a firm grip on the opposing wings. The Aberdeen middle division subdued the Hearts attack. There was no better half-back afield than George Taylor, who greatly impressed. Gavin was sound at centre-half, and Dunlop was a fine purveyor.
Pattillo was the outstanding forward. Injured at Ibrox and again on Saturday, he is pluck personified. The way in which he took lis goals proved him a first-class opportunist.
Gourlay was effective, although not so enterprising as in previous games. Dryden and Fred Taylor were clever on the wings, while Bain worked hard throughout.
Hearts were best served by Brown, Wood. Giachen, Harvey and Mathieson.
