Dons Fail at Dundee |
 |
ABERDEEN, Rangers, East Fife and Hibs all lost their opening games in the fourth North-Eastern League tournament yesterday.
The Dons went down by the only goal of the match at Tannadice to Dundee United. They were considerably under strength, fielding two juniors on the wings. The Dons, however, played the better football. They had the chances, but did not take them, Pattillo, in particular, missing several good opportunities.
The United scored through Wann, their centre, shortly after the resumption.
The defence came out with credit, with Dunlop. Gavin and Cooper best. For to-day's match with Rangers at Pittodrie, the Dons will have a stronger team. Ancell and Dryden will be back in the attack, and it is expected Gourlay and Strauss will be avalable. The team will chosen from: Johnstone; Cooper and Dyer; Dunlop, and Taylor; Ancell, Gourlay, Bain, Pattillo. Ferguson, Straus and Dryden. Kick-off three o'clock.
