Changed Dons Attack Scores at Pittodrie |
 |
NOT until the second half could the Dons claim the advantage against King's Park in the League game at Pittodrie. During the first half the visitors held their own, and were on level terms at half-time.
In the second period Aberdeen changed their attack. Williams went to outside right, Taylor took the left-wing berth, and Ferguson went to inside left. The front line showed improvement after this.
Chief honours for the Dons' success must go to the wing half-backs, Jock Thomson and Frank Dunlop. This pair forced on the attack in fine style, and kept a good grip of the opposing inside men.
Rennie handled confidently in goal, and Graham and Cooper were seldom in difficulties. George Thomson could not get a grip of McDowall in the opening half, but he was on top after the interval.
Three minutes after the start Aberdeen took the lead. Wallace, the visiting 'keeper, was at fault. Pattillo met cross from Dunlop with his head. The 'keeper took his eye off the ball and it glanced off his arm into the net.
EQUALISER,/p>
With twenty-four minutes played King's Park drew level when McDowall followed up a lob from McFarlane to give Rennie no chance.
Five minutes from the interval the visiting centre brought Rennie to earth to a low ball. The keeper allowed it to squirm from below his body and McDowall ran in to score.
Just before the whistle Pattillo put the teams on level terms. He netted from a long cross from Graham.
The Dons missed several chances before they took the lead twenty minutes after the restart. Taylor netted after a shot by Pattillo had been blocked.
Four minutes later the same player fastened on to a fine pass from Pattillo to make the home total four. One minute afterwards Ferguson netted fifth from pass from Pattillo.
