Eight Goals At Pittodrie - Centre Forward Discovery |
 |
Under some what trying conditions at Pittodrie on Saturday the final of the Fleming Charity Shield was decided. By a previous arrangement it was agreed that the winner of the semi-final tie between Aberdeen and Aberdeen University should be opposed in the final by a select team from Aberdeenshire Association clubs. Aberdeen, having easily disposed of the students opposed the Select on Saturday before a meagre attendance of spectators. The match resulted in an easy victory for the club by 8 goals to 0. There were numerous exciting incidents of play, but, as the score suggests, Aberdeen were easily the superior side. A feature of the match was the successful appearance of McLeod from Inverness Clachnacuddin. This player was the leading forward on the field. He scored four goals, and his play in the outfield was suggestive of great possibilities. His play greatly pleased the critics and the Aberdeen directors. There is every likelihood of his being signed on by the club. And other notable success in the match was Munro, the half-back, who has been secured from Huntly. He showed a fine conception of his duties, and placed with great accuracy. Several of the Select side played creditably, but none were outstanding.
