These teams met for the first time on Saturday afternoon on the Recreation Grounds, Inches. The game, which was played in two three-quarters, was fast and exciting. In the first period Orion played uphill, and scored three goals, while their opponents scored one goal. In the second half of the game Orion added two goals, and the Granite City 1. Thus the match ended in a victory for Orion by 5 goals to 2. Mackay and Fyfe did the best work for Orion, while the left wing and goal keeper of Granite City were most prominent on their side. Orion played four 2nd eleven men.
