The Aberdeen 1 - 3 Rovers
Kick Off:    Allan       Peter Simpson, Watt, Hogg
Attendance: 0
Venue: Chanonry, Aberdeen
The first match of the season between these clubs was played on the Chanonry Grounds. The weather was rather unfavourable, there being a strong south-easterly wind. The Rovers won the toss and played with the wind in their favour. In the first half of the game play was about equal for some time, and about twenty minutes after the start Allan made the first goal for Aberdeen. Shortly after, Peter Simpson for the Rovers shot a splendid goal and equalised. About ten minutes later Watt scored a second goal, which made the Rovers lead by two to one. The second goal for the Rovers was within a minute or two followed by another by Hogg, making their score 3 goals as against the Aberdeen's 1 goal. No further scoring took place in the first half. So far as play was concerned, the second half of the game was equal, and neither side scored, the Rovers thus being victors by 3 goals to 1 goal.
