These teams met before a fairly large turnout of spectators at Victoria Bridge Grounds to contest the 2nd round of the Charity Cup. A strong gusty wind was blowing, which greatly interfered with the play. At 3-45 Forsyth for the Caley kicked off against the breeze. The Vics' halves intercepted, and first Ferries and then Wallace had tries at their opponents' goal, the latter's effort striking the crossbar and rebounding off. Aided by the strong wind and fine backing of their defence, the Victoria held the upper hand during the first half, and experienced decided hard lines in not scoring, Main and the wind baffling their every attempt. Turner, after twenty minutes had gone, put the ball past Main, Wallace responding with a second shortly after, while Turner scored a third, the Caley failing to score. Ends were changed with the score as above, and on resuming play the Caley took matters in hand, but could not pierce the defence of the ground team, until about twenty minutes from time when Cannon with the ball was sent through his goal. This was the visitors' first and only point. They seemed within an ace of scoring several times after this, but by-and-by they fell away considerably. The Vies visited Main once or twice, but were sent away pointless. The game thus ended in favour of the Vics as shown above, who now enter the final, their opponents being the Orion. The tie falls to be played on the 25th of this month.
