This match was played at Central Park, Kittybrewster, on Saturday afternoon, before a large attendance of spectators. The Montrose kicked off from the north end of the field, and carried the ball at once into their opponents' territory. The home team then took up the aggressive, and hostilities were transferred to the opposite goal, a corner resulting. Nothing came of it. The Orion still pressed, and Andrews, with a smart shot from the centre, beat the Montrose custodian, thus notching the first and only goal scored by the ground team. A good rush on the left was made by Montrose men, and soon after from a scrimmage at goal mouth they scored their first point, thus equalising. Still the strangers pressed, but some fine, long kicking by the Orion backs relieved matters. Soon after half-time sounded with the game equal. The Orion kicked off down field, and charged well home. The Montrose replied with a well-combined rush. Alternative rushing was the order for the next few minutes, Gordon, Leggat, and Gloag distinguishing themselves for the home side and the left division of the Montrose. From this point until the close they had most of the play. From a pass from the left, the centre Montrose forward scored the second and winning point for his side. The game ended: Montrose 2, Orion 1.

SHORT PASSES.
The Orion, in view of the 17th, will have to pull up.
Their exhibition was miserable. Lumsden and his two backs were the only players to make a decent show.
