Third Lanark were lucky to get a draw at Aberdeen. The locals had the upper hand practically all through, and but for the old weakness forward, where nothing could be done at goal, albeit Main, the centre, was rather unfortunate once or twice, they would have won hands down. As it was, only a penalty goal fell to them. Orr handling and J. Wyllie converting. This occurred in the first quarter of an hour, and the local men continued to press without result. In the second half the Third improved somewhat, but their forwards were well held, and seldom got in a dangerous shot. Two minutes from time they broke away, and caught the home defenders napping. Black burst through on the left, and Rankin headed his grand cross into an open goal. The backs and halves on each side were splendid. There were about 6000 spectators, mostly in khaki.

About 6000 spectators witnessed the match between Aberdeen and Third Lanark at Pittodrie. Ideal weather prevailed. Aberdeen lost the toss and played against a strong sun. Aberdeen made some progress at the start, but they were sent to their own end. The visitors' outside left got away and looked like getting through, when J. Wyllie came to the rescue at a critical moment. After this the locals kept up a stiff pressure on the Third's goal. Brownlie had to handle, but he was never hard pressed. The shooting by both sets of forwards was poor. In the course of an attack on the Third's goal Orr handled, and J. Wyllie, who took the kick, put Aberdeen one up. Aberdeen continued to have the better of matters, but their finishing was poured. The visiting forwards were also weak, and were well held by the home halves, Brewster being outstanding.
Aberdeen commenced the second half in promising fashion, but their advantages were not pressed home. MacLeod tried hard to get through, without success. Rankine, when in a good position, finished weakly. Archibald had a good try, while at the other end black guy Anderson a stiff handful to hold. Main ran through and struck the net behind the post. Aberdeen did most of the aggressive work, but they could not score. Play quietened down somewhat, after which the Thirds pressed more persistently than in the earlier stages, but the good work of their backs and halves was wasted on a rather feeble lot in front. A free-kick against Aberdeen well in looked like materialising, but Colman kicked clear. Black centered well, and Rankine headed through. It was a lucky break away for the visitors, four, on the run of play, Aberdeen deserved the points.
