This match was played at Chanonry before a large turnout of spectators. The teams were:- Orion: Lumsden; Ross, McKay; Wight, Ritchie, Currie; Meldrum, Thorn, Gloag, Fraser, Leggat. Aberdeen: Smith; Robison, Shepherd; Murray, Anderson, Morren; Falconer, Mackie, White, McFarlane, Cumming.
The Orion won the toss, and elected to play downhill with the sun at their back. The Whites kicked off and got away with a run, but the forwards failed to score. Throughout the whole game the shooting on the part or the Aberdeen forwards was faulty. The Orion scored first, Gloag doing the needful. This success on the part of the visitors spurred on the home team, and White put in a neat shot. The remainder of the play in the first half was mediocre. The second 4o minutes was unusually tame. The Aberdeen were playing ten men, and soon after commencing they lost another, Anderson having to leave the field. The Orion had far more staying power than their opponents, and were comparatively fresh, whereas the Whites seemed done out. Goal after goal was put on, Gloag for the most part being the medium through which the points were scored. At the call of time the score stood: Orion 6, Aberdeen 1. Play during the whole game was rough, and the referee was continually giving fouls, sometimes against the Aberdeen and sometimes against the Orion.
