Jackson and Anderson were the best of the Aberdeen side which turned out at Paisley. The defenders got a lot to do, and the pair named put in a hard afternoon. St Mirren opened tamely, and the game was even until with half an hour gone Dixon, the centre-half, scored from a corner beautifully placed by Higginbotham. Anderson was unlucky in having to pick the ball out of the net, as it rebounded off his hands against the post. Ambler lost a chance of equalising shortly afterwards. The Saints kept the visiting rearguard busy in the second period, but Aberdeen forwards were not idle, and McKay, Ambler, and Main were seen to advantage. The centre could have done with more of the leather.
