With their best available team Aberdeen paid Arbroath a visit, but, sad to relate, returned defeated by the tall score of 7-1. At the kick-off Aberdeen pressed hard, and Fullerton gladdened the hearts of the Aberdonians present by laying the ball into the net. Nettled at this, Arbroath played their utmost, and secured a corner, which was cleared, Still pressing, Milne placed the teams level. The maroons played desperately, and at half time had made the scores: Arbroath 3, Aberdeen 1. The second half had not gone far when Middleton scored from a corner. Aberdeen wakened up a bit, and some interesting play was seen, but the Whites failed to score. Before time was called, Arbroath had increased their score to 7, while Aberdeen had to be content with a solitary point. The game was not by any means so one-sided as the score would represent. McConnachie played a great game, and it can in no way be put down to him that the score was so large.
