The Aberdeen A and the Peterhead met in the semi-final tie for the Aberdeenshire Cup in the Recreation Park, Peterhead, on Saturday. The teams were:-
Peterhead: McRobbie; Craig, Robertson; Hall, Davidson, Strachan; Thompson, Munro, Buchan, Simpson, Shand.
Aberdeen A: Tait; Willox, Brebner; Robertson, Herd, Davidson; Jaffrey, Cruikshank, Hamilton, Hilton, Ward.
Mr. Alexander Watt, Aberdeen, was referee.
Aberdeen won the toss, and shortly after Buchan kicked off the A's forwards put the ball behind the Peterhead goal. The local custodian was smart, and cleared from a raid. During some quick end-to-end play, the ball landed at Buchan's feet, and was smartly placed in the net. Some splendid combination by the Peterhead forwards kept the ball for a time in the Aberdeen's territory, and their custodian was called up several times to save. From a pass kick, Cruikshank secured the ball, I and, after very close footwork then took place in front of the A's goal, but the local team only managed to secure a corner.
Early in the second half Craig, with a strong kick, sent the leather to Shand, who shot it into the goalmouth, where it was rush through by Munro. This aroused the A's to further exertions, but although they pressed strongly and tried McRobbie severely, they could not score. Shand scored the third goal for the Peterhead. About 5 minutes before the close, the A's protested against Thomson playing for the Peterhead, but the referee would not entertain the protest.
