In the evening a very interesting game was played at Pittodrie, when the Aberdeen A team and a select local junior team played a friendly game on behalf of the Aberdeenshire Football Association. There were about 200 persons present when the teams lined up as follows:-
Aberdeen A: Herd; Willox, Brebner; Davidson, Simpson, Robertson; Hamilton, Hilton, McKinley (Dumbarton Thistle), Cruickshank, Henderson.
Select Team: Graham; Hannah, Craig; Morgan, Henderson, Ross; Catto, Russell, Clark, McLean, Milne.
Referee - Mr. Bremner, Aberdeen.
Play opened very briskly, and in the first five minutes Catto scored for the juniors. The Aberdeen reserves gamely responded, and the new centre forward, who was feeding his wings fairly well, took the ball down the field, ten yards from goal was illegitimately brought down. Robertson took the free kick and equalised. Shortly after Hilton added another point. The select team was outclassed, and at half time the score stood - Aberdeen A, 3 goals; Select team, one goal.
Play was only about ten minutes resumed when Cruikshank added another goal for Aberdeen. The new centre forward, in the second half, apparently from lack of training, fell away, and appeared to be looking very tired. He showed some very good touches, but was unable to follow up his advantages. Play all through was very fast and into resting and the game ended in a win for Aberdeen A.
