Dundee 5 - 0 Aberdeen

HT Score: Dundee 2 - 0 Aberdeen

Northern League
Dundee scorers: ?, Dargie, Downie, Downie, Dargie

12/01/1907 | KO:

This match was played at Dens Park, before a large attendance, on Saturday. Teams:-

Dundee: Crumley; Lorimer, Chaplin; Watson, Fairweather, Ogilvie; Downie, McDermott, Dargie, Nimmo, Russell.
Aberdeen: Herd; Willox, Gault; Davidson, Slessor, Robertson; Lawrie, Mitchell, Mackie, Simpson, McKenzie.

Aberdeen A pressed at the outset and Davidson had a splendid try for goal. Play was soon transferred to the visitors' territory, and the home team opened the scoring. Herd saved a grand shot from Downie, but before he could gather the ball into his hands Dargie banged the ball into the net. Aberdeen brightened up after this second reverse, and Crumley had to hold a hot shot from McKenzie. Aberdeen's seemed to be played out, and were hemmed in on all sides. McKenzie was by far the most prominent player on the Aberdeen side.

On resuming, Aberdeen assumed the offensive, but were easily repulsed. A splendid run by a Nimmo ended in his being called up for offside just as he had scored. Herd was distinguishing himself at this period by his wonderful saving. Downie scored twice after this, giving Herd no chance of saving. Aberdeen were completely outplayed, and when Dargie added another goal to Dundee's score who lost heart entirely.

The Reserves Lose Badly.

Dens Park does not seem to be the " happy hunting ground " for Aberdeen A it used to be. They came a bad " cropper " on Saturday, and outside the first half-hour were seldom in the game. Dundee A were in rampant form and made a sad mess of the visitors' defence. Herd was poor in goal, while both backs were only fair. The halves bore the brunt of the work, both in defence and attack, Davidson being the pick of the two. Mitchell and McKenzie were the only forwards on the visiting side, the others being dead off. All the Dundee played well, especially Tom McDermott's brother.
