OPENING NIGHT.

The opening game of the season was played at Pittodrie last night when teams representing Aberdeen A and Mugiemoss clubs. The match was witnessed by a large number of enthusiasts. The following were the teams:-

Aberdeen A: R. S. Clark; Hannah, Harper; Davidson, Watson, Robertson; Hay, Towns, Newman, Edgar, Neilson.
Mugiemoss: Cameron; Middleton, Ross; Martin, Paxton, Barrie; Tough, Silver, Davidson, Gray, Knowles.
Mister P. Gillespie acted as referee.

For the first quarter of an hour after the kick-off, even play was witnessed, but later the A team took the lead, and after 20 minutes, Edgar scored. Dangerous tactics followed around the visitors' goal for some time afterwards, but there was no further scoring, the Mugiemoss goalkeeper fisting have some swift shots. The game again fell back somewhat, and continued in that state till half-time, which made the results stand - Aberdeen, 1; Mugiemoss, 0.

Although it was unfortunate for the Mugiemoss men that Aberdeen A took the lead in the first half, the former team easily played the better game, and did everything to open the scoring, but were unsuccessful.
The right wing men took a prominent part in the play, but were often hard pressed by the A team's men. Towards the finish, the juniors began to tire, and Aberdeen A, through Neilson, easily added a mother to their total.

At home Mugiemoss furnished the opposition to the A team; and in view of the many triumphs they accomplished last season, were expected to give the Reserves a good hiding. The match was in aid of the 'Moss funds, and the attendance was satisfactory under the circumstances.

The play on Monday night at Pittodrie was vely equal, Aberdeen A being handicapped with not having a centre forward, M. Gunn being called on unexpectedly to fill the gap. Splendid combination was the feature on both sides, the 'Moss right-wing being the most dangerous, while Aberdeen's left gave the defence most trouble. After Town and M. Gunn had tried to pierce the goal, Johnny Edgar fastened on and secured first-goal for his side.
The 'Moss bucked up after this, but missed several easy chances; half-time arrived with Aberdeen leading by 1-0. On the restart the visitors pressed hard, R. S. Clark giving a fine display in goal as Aberdeen was hemmed in for a time. Hannah relieved the pressure, and Towns had a chance of a lifetime, but missed, and give-and-take play was the order. Towards the close. and when the mist had become so thick that it was difficult to follow the ball, Aberdeen scored again, and won a hard game by 2-0.
