At Mossat Park, Forres Mechanics registered a brilliant victory over Aberdeen Reserves by 2 goals to 1. This is the first defeat Aberdeen Reserves have suffered in the north, and does it a second they have sustained in a Highland League Competition. The other team to beat them was the 93rd Highlanders, who triumphed at Pittodrie. The victory of Forres is the more creditable because of the fact that several of a Aberdeen's are recognised first team players took part in the game.
A large crowd saw Forres win the toss and sent the visitors to face a slight breeze and strong sun. The homsters did the major share of the pressing for the first 20 minutes, tries by Cameron, P. McKenzie, and J. McKenzie narrowly missing their mark. Wood was displaying some neat touches for the visitors, but, owing to the other forwards ineffectiveness, they all went for nothing. On one occasion Braunds brought off a miraculous saved, lifting the ball from Mainds toe. The first half ended with no scoring.
Up from the restart play ruled even, with an occasional run away by both sets of forwards. Shortly after, owing to a misunderstanding between Braunds and Singer, Main scored a goal for the visitors. Play waxed keener than ever, and a length from a corner nicely placed by Munro, Barclay fisted through his own goal. The excitement later became intense, and everyone expected Upshaw, but, with only 2 minutes to go, Cameron scored a great goal for the homsters. Time came with the homsters worthy winners. All the forest team played up to form, while Chatwin, Munro (back), and Wood were best for the visitors.
