Under highland league auspices at Inverness, Aberdeen reserves defeated the citadel by 4 goals to 1, and thereby strengthened their claim to the championship.
For a period there was little to choose between the teams, but Aberdeen kept the ball on the ground better, and were more dangerous at the goalmouth. Through weak back play, Green scored an easy goal. The Citadel had smart runs, but only on one occasion troubled Aberdeen's goalkeeper. Again the visitors pressed, and Citadel's weak defence again allowed Robertson to score. Citadel showed improved play, and they had more than a fair share of the game. Forsyth scored a beautiful goal for them, and the play up to the end of the first half deserved the equaliser.
The second portion was grandly contested. Citadel had extremely hard lines in not equalising. Towards the close of the game the visitors improved and scored two goals, one from a penalty. The score rather flattered Aberdeen, the Citadel hardly deserved such a beating.
