Paul Sheerin's very young side, without the likes of Bruce Anderson and Connor McLennan, who are with the first team at the moment, produced a great performance to beat Highland League side Inverness Clachnacuddin this evening.
After a slow start Aberdeen opened the scoring on 23 minutes when winger Nathan Meres, who impressed in the draw against Turriff, played the ball infield for Jack Breen who burst forward from midfield. The trialist beat a defender on the edge of the area before firing a superb shot into the net. A really good finish from the former Hibs man.
Clach equalised midway through the first half after the young Dons had given away possession when trying to play out from the back. Morrison also produced a good finish to beat Archie Mair.
At half time Paul Sheerin brought on a few of his more established squad members and Aberdeen put in a brilliant second half performance. they retook the lead with an outstanding team goal with just over ten minutes remaining. Harrington played the ball wide to Antoniazzi who produced some good skill to find the run of right back Robertson. Sam squared the ball to Lewis Hutchison and the Scotland U17 squad member delightfully lobbed the ball into the roof of the net.
If that goal was good, Lewis' second in injury time was even better. The young Dons strung 12 passes together before Ethan Ross picked the ball up on the half way line. He injected some pace into the move and played a great forward pass to Antoniazzi who on the edge of the area back heeled the ball into the path of Hutchison and he dispatched the ball into the net.
The Aberdeen U20s complete their Highland tour on Saturday when they face Brora Rangers.
