Falloon's Winning Goal.
The Alliance League fixture between Aberdeen "A" and Hibernian "A" at Easter Road was a tame affair, the Pittodrie side winning by the only goal scored. Aberdeen made the running at the start, and Merrie and Wilson both had attempts. Another determined attack resulted in Moonie clearing with difficulty from McLeod. Hibs retaliated, and after Blackwell had cleared from Kelly, Legge intercepted a dangerous pass from Preston. Play swung from end to end, but Aberdeen were having the better of the exchanges, and should have taken the lead when Wilson beat three opponents to send weakly into Moonie's hands. Towards the interval Aberdeen crowded on all sail, and Falloon opened the scoring from a free kick. Immediately on the resumption Moonie saved a header from Merrie, and at the other end Donnelly and Preston both had good shots. Good work by Muir, the Aberdeen pivot, kept the Pittodrie team on the offensive, and McGinnigle was prominent in the home defence. Although the home team had several raids they were for the most part on the defensive, and towards the finish play became of an uninteresting nature.Source: Press & Journal, 25th March 1929
