Aberdeen "A" strengthened their position at the top of the Alliance League table by defeating Queen's Park Strollers by seven goals to nil at Pittodrie Park yesterday afternoon. Because of the inclement weather the attendance was small.
As the result of injuries to several of the "A" team players, the Aberdeen team included three first team players and one local junior. David, of Mugiemoss, gave a good display, and secured two of his side's goals.
Aberdeen were distinctly superior and early took the lead through Merrie. The amateurs had several furtive raids, in which Parry and Cordiner were prominent. After McLeod had added a second goal for Aberdeen, the Strollers, attacked, and Blackwell was called on to deal with shots from Fitzgerald and Lennie.
Queen's Park started the second half in promising fashion, but flattered only to deceive. Aberdeen had much the better the exchanges, and the amateurs' goal ran numerous narrow escapes before Love headed home a cross by Merrie to bring the home total to three. The Queen's Park raids were few and far between, Dodds being the only forward to show any enterprise. Smart work by McLeod and Love resulted in David netting, and shortly afterwards McLeod added a fifth. Towards the close Aberdeen crowded on all sail, and David worked his way through to count a sixth time, and just on the final whistle a fast cross by Love rebounded off Carrick into the net to bring the total to seven.
