Aberdeen Likely to Retain Trophy

STRATHBOGIE TEAM NOT DISGRACED.

Huntly put up a brave show in in the first of the home-and-home finals in the Aberdeenshire Cup competition at Pittodrie on Saturday.
They were defeated by the big margin of eight goals to three, but that score flattered the homesters, who were certainly not five goals better than their opponents. Greater stamina and superior training told against the Strathbogie men in the second half, when the conditions were such as would test the staying powers of the best of players.
Aberdeen led at the interval by four goals to two, but one of the points should never have been granted. This was when the ball came off David's foot, struck the post, and rebounded into play. David had another goal while McLaren and Gibson also scored before the interval.
McLaren's goal was the best of the eight. Getting possession forty yards out, he drove with terrific force, Singer having no chance to save. Huntly's first half goals were registered by Sey and W. Munro.

Four More for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen added four goals in the second half against one by the visitors. Davif who had previously missed several good chances, registered Aberdeen's fifth point after a great individual run. W, Munro, however, notched a very clever goal to reduce the homesters lead to two.
It was after this that Aberdeen were really superior, and during the last twenty minutes they outplayed Huntly. Hill scored twice for the cup-holders, while just before the finish Gibson registered an eighth.
Huntly were beaten, but by no means disgraced. For the greater part of the game they gave a very plucky display. Aberdeen however, should have no difficulty in retaining the trophy for the eleventh year in succession. They have a lead of five goals, and good as Huntly are, it will be very surprising if they succeed in wresting the cup from Aberdeen,
Aberdeen's best were McLaren, Godfrey, Adam, Gibson, and Hill; while Huntly were well served by Singer, Edward, Robertson, Cowie, Sey, Stewart, and W. Munro.
