Paterson Scores Celtic A's Five Goals.
Aberdeen reserves were well beaten at Parkhead where a dashing Celtic won by 5 goals 2. The game was a personal triumph for Paterson, the homesters' centre-forward, who netted all his side's goals. The major part of the responsibility for Aberdeen's defeat lay with the defence, which never got a grip of a brisk attack. Four minutes after the start Celtic took the lead, when Paterson worked through to beat Cumming. Eleven minutes later Cumming punched out a shot from Connor, and Paterson added a second goal. Five minutes later the centre completed his "hat trick." Aberdeen made several raids but failed to open their account before the Interval. The Young Dons were seen to better advantage in the second half, and Robertson reduced the leeway in two minutes. Celtic got going again, and Paterson added a fourth goal. After Westland had counted for the visitors Celtic again took the game in hand, and Paterson secured a fifth goal.Source: Press & Journal, 9th October 1933
