Aberdeen A Take Too Long to Settle Down.
Aberdeen A were well beaten by Beith in their Alliance League fixture on Saturday, and the "Chairmakers" thus had their revenge for the heavy defeat received at Pittodrie several weeks ago. Aberdeen A failed to settle down in the early stages, and Beith accounted for most of the attacking, but a smart run and shot by Lawie relieved the monotony. After fifteen minutes the homesters opened the scoring. Stewart got away on the right, and crossed to Banks, who gave Cumming no chance from close in. The "Young Dons" wakened up after this, O'Reilly being conspicuous with some clever play, and a free kick by the Irishman was well saved by Kelly. Ten minutes from the interval, Narrowmore put the homesters further ahead with a fine drive from a free kick, and halftime arrived with Beith leading by two goals to nil. Beith resumed as they left off, and Banks added a third coal within two minutes, and at the other end Westland missed an open goal. Aberdeen A came more into the picture after this, and following a spell of pressure Donald opened their account with a fine shot. The point was nullified a minute later, however, when W. O. Clark got through at the other end to score a fine goal. Play was of an even nature following this, and the ball went from end to end, with neither side being able to claim a definite advantage. In the closing minutes Lawie got through to score a second goal for the visitors.Source: Press & Journal, 15th January 1934
