Johnstone and Donald Give Fine Display.
The young Dons were disappointing in this Alliance game at Firhill yesterday, but little fault could be found in general with the defence, though two of Thistle's goals were due to lapses under strenuous pressure. The visitors defied all the scheming of the home forwards until five minutes from the interval, when Neish tried a shot almost from the by-line and Westland with outstretched leg could only deflect the ball into the net. Donald and Johnstone were Aberdeen's outstanding forwards, the centre being responsible for two choice bits of individual play which were worthy of goals. In his first run Donald rounded three opponents before smashing in a ten-yarder that Johnstone was pleased to turn round the post for a corner. Later a dash ahead left the defence standing and his effort was brilliantly saved by Johnstone. In the closing minutes Neish and Bain augmented Thistle's lead.
