Setback to Alliance Flag Hopes
Aberdeen "A" lost a couple of valuable points on Saturday when they fell to Motherwell "A" at Fir Park. The loss of these points has sorely jeopardised the Young Dons' hopes of capturing the Alliance flag, for with a match in hand Rangers "A" are only point behind. Hamilton "A," too, are only five points behind, with three matches less played. There is still hope for the Young Dons, however.Goals by Wyllie
Two goals by Wyllie were the means of Aberdeen's defeat. The first goal, fifteen minutes after the start, was a rather soft effort. A 'Well half back punted the ball into goalmouth and the ball was deflected by Urquhart to Wyllie, who had only to nod it past Westland. The second goal, soon after the restart, also came from Wyllie's head. He received a strong cross from Beattie to beat Westland again.Inferior Finishing
Neither goalkeeper had much to do, as the finishing of both teams was not up to standard. Strauss was one of Aberdeen's best men. He had several good shots with both feet, but his luck was out. Towards the close, Brown missed a good chance of reducing the leeway. From a few yards out a shot from Bain was palmed out to him, but he put it past with the goal gaping in front him. Taken all over, the Young Dons were somewhat unlucky not to take point from the match.Source: Press & Journal, 13th April 1936
