Alliance League Leaders

Aberdeen 'A' Win at Dens Park

By defeating Dundee "A' at Dens Park, Aberdeen "A" have taken over the leadership of the Alliance League. The Young Dons, who are League champions, are equal on points with Rangers "A" and Kilmarnock "A," but have played a game less than the Light Blues and two games less than the Rugby Park reserves.

The Young Dong certainly deserved their win over the Dens Parkers. They were early on the mark, Lynch being tested repeatedly.

In Arrears

In spite of their good start, the Young Dons found themselves a goal in arrears within ten minutes. Dundee "A" were awarded a penalty for hands, and from the spot Robertson made no mistake.
Aberdeen "A" replied immediately, for in a mix-up in the homesters' goalmouth shortly afterwards Brown put the ball in the net. The Young Dons were moving better again, and a Scott-Lang movement ended with a shot from Lang giving Lynch no chance.
Aberdeen "A' were playing better football, and a tap from Taylor was just touched round the post by Lynch. The Young Dons' defence was tackling confidently and successfully turning many home attacks.

Everything But Score

Dundee "A" pressed on the resumption, but it was from the Young Dons that the thrills came. Lynch was kept lively in goal, with Lang a prominent sharpshooter. Indeed, the Young Dons were doing everything but score. Scott was a thorn in the Dundee defence; and he received splendid support from his wing men, Lang and Warnock.
Johnstone, although not often called upon, was always confident in the Young Dons' goal. Lynch, the Dundee 'keeper, was also safe, and had it not been for him Aberdeen "A" might well have won by a bigger margin.
