BUT KELLY GIVES A GOOD DISPLAY
The home forwards soon got going, however, but a timely clearance by McGill, who played well at right back, put stop to their raid. Kelly gave a good account of himself in the visitors' goal, and saved well from Watson and Abbie. The first real thrill came at the Young Dons' end when Watson, the home centre, beat three opponents to send the ball skimming over the bar. The "Jags" were strong in attack, but they found the Aberdeen defence playing strongly. McGill and Mackie, at right half, were prominent in that hectic spell. After forty minutes. Partick "A" went into the lead. Watson headed home after Kelly had only partially cleared from a Linton cross. In the second half the "Jags" again had slightly the better of matters, and goals by Douglas and McCrindle gave them the points. The Young Dons' only goal was scored by Ritchie Smith, who played a hard game on the left wing.Source: Press & Journal, 30th August 1937
