ABERDEEN "A" LOSE POINTS IN SECOND HALF
Experiment of playing Strauss as leader of Aberdeen A's attack Brockville Park was not a success, but the Pittodrie reserves were decidedly unlucky to lose both points. They actually led at one stage, and even after Falkirk had gone ahead near the close a desperate closing rally almost snatched the game out of the fire. Falkirk got off to bright start, Fleming scoring in two minutes, but afterwards the Young Dons were the smarter combine, although their finishing was weak. It was not until the closing stages of the first half that Brady got a lucky equaliser. Play brightened considerably after the interval, and Fleming again put the homesters in front. Brady, who was now in the centre for the visitors, equalised almost immediately, and he completed his " hat-trick " from penalty to put Aberdeen A ahead for the first time. A penalty for Falkirk, netted by the youthful McPhee, again saw the teams level, and Young scored the winning goal fifteen minutes from time. The Brockville reserves have thus completed a run of eight games without defeat. They were well served by McKie, Tulip, McPhee, Baxendale, and Fleming, while for the Young Dons. Kelly, Newman at centre-half, Brady, and Hume did best.Source: Press & Journal, 3rd October 1938
