Clyde Reserves Not Impressive

PATTILLO IN LIVELY MOOD FOR YOUNG DONS

It was difficult to believe that the Shawfield reserves are in the final of the Scottish 2nd XI. Cup on the form they showed at Pittodrie, Their forwards never really got going, and the home team, which included two trialists, won with something to spare.
Aberdeen got off to a flying start, Smith getting a grand goal three minutes. After a grand run on the right his fierce shot was palmed down Arthur who left his goal to narrow the Smith fastened on again and placed the ball into the far side of the goal.
Pirie, the home inside left, and the visitors' right back, were both off for a spell, but Aberdeen were still forcing the pace, and it was no surprise when Pattillo added a second before half-time. Bain did the leading-up work, and put the centre in possession with a pass. Pattillo tricked Beaton and shot home as McArthur ran out.
For a short spell in the second half Clyde showed more life, and Taylor headed a good goal in five minutes from Hanlin's cross. There were far too many free kicks after this and play became uninteresting. The Young Dons were always more dangerous, and Pattillo snapped a third goal in the closing minutes to settle the issue.
Cumming was safe in the home goal, and Robey was the better back. The half-backs played well and kept Shawfield attack quiet, while in the attack Smith and Pattillo were lively. Pirie the juvenile trialist from Hawthorn, showed good touches.
Clyde were well served by McArthur, Telford, Cowan and Taylor. Ritchie Smith, the former Aberdeen winger, had not good game.
