YOUNG DONS WIN POOR " END-OF-SEASON " GAME
There was a real end-of-the-season atmosphere at Pittodrie. and. in addition, high wind made the light ball difficult to control. Aberdeen did most of the pressing, but they should have had more than one goal to their credit. With the wind behind them they attacked practically throughout the opening half, but there was not a scoring shot in their locker. Louden, the Rovers' 'keeper, was the busiest man afield, but he dealt confidently with everything that came his way. After the interval Rovers threatened danger for a short spell, but the Dons gradually assumed command, and at long last they got goal. Pattillo for once found way past Liddell. and slipped to Williams, who ran on to place the ball safely the net. Apart from a few lone raids by the visiting centre, there was little of note in the closing stages, and the game fizzled out. Cumming, the Mugiemoss goalkeeper, had little to do. and the best home defenders were Grant and Robev. The forwards were not too impressive. Williams threatening most danger. Best for the visitors were Louden. Riddell and Junior.Source: Press & Journal, 24th April 1939
