Dons

With a reproduction the form they showed against Celtic in mid-week, the Aberdeen Reserve side proved easy winners their match at Easter Road. Sound defensive work was backed up by smart play by the forwards, and although twice in arrears in the early stages the Aberdeen side finished well on top.
Hibs made the running from the start and in eight minutes Anderson drove home a cross from Gilmartin. Back went the visitors and when Ross miskicked Williams was on the spot to bang the ball into the net. Hibs, however, were not done yet and they resumed their lead when Gallagher banged home another Gilmartin cross.

YOUNG DONS ON TOP

After this a fierce battle for supremacy was waged, but the visitors gradually got the upper hand and Ferguson equalised, while just on the interval Williams forced his way through to score third for the Young Dons. The wee Springbok was again on the target in early minutes the second half when he finished off a good move by Pattillo.
It was nearly all Aberdeen after this, and it looked only a matter of time before they added to their score. Smith netted twice in the closing minutes to give the Aberdeen side a comfortable victory.
Hibs, who had weaknesses in defence, were best served by Cummings, McLeod, Gilmartin, Cuthbertson and Gallagher. Aberdeen's stars were Adey, Laing, Waddell, Smith, Pattillo, Ferguson and Williams.
