Ahead of next week's SFA youth Cup semi-final, Aberdeen had a disappointing draw on the road this evening in Kirkaldy.

Aberdeen got off to a poor start and struggled to deal with the Fife formation in the middle of the park. It was a very scruffy opening period from the young Dons and they were penalised for that when they conceded on nine minutes. The opening goal came from an Aberdeen throw-in, they then lost out in the middle of the park and the Fife striker scored with a left footed strike.

Aberdeen then came back into the game and did a bit better. They forced seven or eight corners and eventually drew level on 29 minutes. A header from Irishman Conor Power came off the bar and it dropped for Kevin Hanratty who knocked the ball home.

Then on the stroke of half time, there was a big switch of play which found Lewis Duncan in space. The winger cut in after beating the full back, drove towards goal before squaring it for Michael Dangana to score.

So after getting themselves ahead at half time, Aberdeen would then have hoped to have gone on and won the game but credit to Darren Dods side, they came out after the break and got an immediate equaliser after Aberdeen failed to deal with a cross.

After that there were chances at both ends.

Hanratty and Dangana went close for the visitors whist Scotland U16 keeper Tom Ritchie made a number of good saves, so the game could have gone either way and a draw was probably a fair reflection of the game.

After the game Scott Anderson told afc.co.uk:

"It was not great if I am being honest. I was not what we wanted it to be.

"We have a big week coming up ahead of the youth cup semi-final. We will dust ourselves down after today and then start to focus on the game next Friday. It is a great opportunity to go and lift ourselves with a good performance."
