Aberdeen for large parts dominated the ball and had two or three really good chances in each half which they did not take.
In the first period Kevin Hanratty had a header which went just over, Connor Barron had a good shooting chance which the keeper Cantley saved. They then worked a similar corner to the one that worked brilliantly against Hamilton last week and it looked as if it might work again but Tyler Mykyta got blocked just as he was away to pull the trigger.
On the half hour mark the home side countered after a quick break and striker Shanley put it away.
Back came the Dons and they had a couple more half chances whilst Hibs also produced a couple more breaks but Mair made the saves.
In the second half, as Aberdeen pushed for an equaliser, they were even more dominant and they had some glorious chances from a couple of yards out. Connor Barron put one past the post, substitute Michael Dangana had two chances and also a good shout for a penalty. Instead of getting the spot kick, the striker was booked.
Kieran Shanks then hit the bar before the Dons had another penalty shout turned down. Kevin Hanratty went close with two shots in succession but still they could not find a way through.
And with four minutes to go, as Aberdeen piled bodies forward, Hibs produced a break and substitute Josh O?Connor sealed the victory.
A very frustrating night for the young Dons who need to start taking their chances.
