A powerful Hibs side proved far too strong for the young Dons as they romped to a 6-1 win at Ormiston on a blustery cold afternoon.
Hibs were out of the traps quickly and opened the scoring on 9 minutes with a fine strike from distance by Fraser Murray. Six minutes later they doubled their advantage as Marc McNulty knocked home a rebound after Sam Jackson had brilliantly saved his initial effort. Skipper David Gray made it three just after the half hour following a corner then Tom James added a fourth minutes from the break.
Playing down the hill and with the strong wind in their favour, the Dons saw more of the ball in the second half with Ronnie Hernandez prominent on the right and were twice denied by fine saves from Debrowski in the home goal.
Hibs grabbed two more goals as McNulty and James scored in quick succession before Dean Campbell thundered in a fine consolation for the visitors in the final minute, his thirty yard piledriver crashing off the underside of the bar before finding the back of the net.
Hibs greater experience told in the end of the day while Aberdeen now prepare for the visit of Celtic to Pittodrie next Tuesday for the Reserve League Cup final which kicks off at 7pm.
