Aberdeen 3 - 2 Dundee

THE Dons are in the semi-final of the League Cup and they are just as capable of reaching the last four, in the Scottish Cup.

If they reveal the same power and purpose at Greenock on Saturday in the replay, I'm confident they'll win. A victory over Morton means they travel to Dens Park on March 15 in the fourth round.
Twice Dundee have had to give Aberdeen best within a week. Again at Pittodrie yesterday the Dons demonstrated they were the slicker and quicker combination. And there was better cooperation between the Pittodrie half backs and forwards. They could find their man better.
In both games there has only been a goal between the teams. Dundee must be given credit for their fighting qualities, yet both at Dens Park and Pittodrie the Dons always shaped like winners.

Juliussen Dangerous

The Aberdeen forward line played more cohesively and more confidently than the Dundee quintette. Juliussen was the danger man of the Dark Blues' attack. He was strong and fast and his two counters testify to his ability as a goal-getter.
Juliussen came in for Joyner in the Dundee front line, but in the line-up not a single member of the attack occupied the same position as he did in last Saturday's game.
In the second half both wings switched over and Harris and Hamilton, in the Aberdeen van, also swopped places in this period.
Hamilton, I mark down as the best forward on view. His passes were accurate and well timed and he was invariably in position for the return pass. He has only to play as well as did yesterday to be one of the Scottish successes in the League national at Hampden next Wednesday.
Hamilton hit the target twice and he could have made it a hat-trick had he not wasted a chance from a Dunlop free kick early in the game.
Williams seems to have struck form at the right time. His neat flicks kept the line running smoothly and he and Hamilton are working well as a team.
All three Aberdeen half backs played well. McLaughlin and Waddell were powerful in the tackle and they urged on their forwards in good style. Cooper and McKenna were seldom in difficulties.
Dundee had a grand back in Follon. He showed excellent positional sense. Mc'Kenzie was again tne best of the middle men.
Juliussen was the only Dundee forward who consistently took the eye.
Referee Peter Craigmyle showed sound judgment when he declared the ground playable on Tuesday afternoon. The sun had worked an amazing transformation on the playing pitch and it was in much better condition than Dens Park last Saturday.

Sensational Finish

There was a sensational finish to yesterday's game. The Dons were leading 2-1 with two minutes to go. The 18,000 spectators got a shock when Juliussen drove a low cross from Ewen into the net.
In the last minute McCall got Aberdeen's third goal. Bennett pushed a header from Hamilton against the woodwork and McCall restored the Dons' lead from the rebound. Hamilton was injured and was carried to the pavilion unconscious. He soon recovered after attention.
Hamilton opened the scoring thirty minutes after the start when he gathered a slip from Williams and beat Bennett with a left-foot drive. Dundee's equaliser five minutes later came as a result of Dunlop accidentally deflecting a shot by Ewen with his heel. Johnstone, who had made to cover the ball, had no time turn before Juliussen prodded it into the net.
Hamilton's second counter came in the nineteenth minute of the second half. This time McCall provided the pass from which tne inside right netted .
