Two first half goals were good enough to give an experienced Dunfermline side victory at East End Park tonight as the Under 21's continue to struggle.
On a more positive note, Ryan Esson played his first game of the season after shaking off a troublesome thigh strain.
In the 11th minute a was threaded through the Dons defence and Stewart Petrie was on hand to curl the ball neatly past Esson.
Four minutes later Pars' Scott MacNicol collected the ball on the edge of the Aberdeen box, he then hit a superb chip over Esson to double the home sides advantage.
