Scott Muirhead had broken clear and fired in a fierce cross, which took a wicked deflection off of Hessey and eluded Colin Meldrum in the Kilmarnock goal. The Dons went ahead after the break and once again it was an own goal. This time it was James Fowler who turned a Darren Mackie cross into his own net with 48 minutes on the clock.
An Aberdeen player finally registered a goal in the 60th minute to seal the victory. Paul Sheerin released Darren Mackie and the youngster rounded Meldrum before rolling the ball into the empty net to clinch all three points.
