The Dark Blues took the lead against the run of play when Craig Higgins conceded a spot kick, duly converted by Chris HEGARTY, son of former Pittodrie boss Paul. The Dons hit back and Bryan Prunty saw a shot cannon off the crossbar while Duncan Jones and John Stewart also went close. However, a minute from the interval, Andy RILEY doubled Dundee's advantage with a close range effort.
Ten minutes after the restart, Aberdeen reduced the deficit when a Fergus Tiernan free kick was played to Ricky Foster, whose cutback was side-footed past Derek Soutar by substitute Stephen TARDITI. In the 80th minute, the comeback was complete when FOSTER fired an excellent 20 yard strike past Soutar from the edge of the area for a deserved equaliser.
Boss Cooper was again happy with the performance. "To be honest we could and should have won. We had most of the first half, yet we trailed by two goals at the break and in the second period, it was all one way traffic. Kevin showed no ill effects in his first game back and looked sharp while Michael Hart had an excellent game for us at the back."
