After the break the Dons continued to control the game and Shields grabbed his second in the 62nd minute after collecting a great pass from Bruce. Young Michael Paton, making his debut at this level, almost added a fourth late on but was unlucky to see his effort go wide.
Neil Cooper spoke to Redweb after the match and was delighted with the result as his team continued their unbeaten run. "It was a very good win considering we had six regulars missing. I'm very pleased with the effort of some of the younger boys. I thought Michael Paton from our development squad did exceptional well in his first game.
"We were slightly slack at times, but that was to be expected with some many new boys. It was particularly pleasing to give some of the other young lads a run out with Jordan Reid and Martin Skinner getting on."
