The young Dons went behind on 41 minutes when a free kick from Weightman deceived Kelly in the Aberdeen goal. The home side extended there lead on 54 minutes from another set piece. This time a corner was played in and an unmarked O'Neil scored with a header.
Despite going two goals down, Aberdeen recovered well and deservedly got a goal back after 71 minutes. Both full backs were involved as Thomson found Donald, who finished well.
The Dons had 3 penalty claims turn down, the strongest one being in the last minute when young Chris McGuire was tumbled in the box but the referee waved away the appeals.
Neil Cooper was still happy enough after the game. "After going 2.0 down I was really pleased with the way the boys fought back and the spirit they showed."
