Striker Fernando Pasquinelli was red carded as a strong Dons reserve side were beaten by an 18th minute Craig MacMillan strike from just outside the area in a tight SPL second string clash in Inverness.
The Argentinian received his marching orders two minutes before the interval when he was adjudged to have swung an arm in an aerial challenge by referee Colin Brown although, to most observers, the decision looked harsh.
The plus points for watching management duo Jimmy Calderwood and Jimmy Nicholl were ex-Leeds United and Middlesbrough forward Noel Whelan coming through the ninety minutes in his first match back from his calf injury and a solid display at the back by Ryan O'Leary.
Goal scoring opportunities at either end were few and far between with Steven Craig hitting the side netting before the break and Pasquinelli turning a Richard Buckley corner over the crossbar prior to his dismissal.
Manager Neil Cooper was disappointed with his team's overall performance. "We didn't play at all in the first half and, although we worked away after the interval, I would have expected more from what was a strong team. There weren't that many chances created and, apart from the goal, young Greg Kelly probably had just one save to make the whole game."
